2011 "Case of The Year" Submission
The following case was submitted by Captain Mario Lugo of the Manassas Park Police Department in consideration for the 2011 "Case Of The Year" Award. These are ordered by the case occurrence date. Some of the cases may have had names or addresses removed to protect identities for cases that have not been resolved through the court system. All suspects are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. These cases are from official reports submitted by the officer for cases that meet the criteria for the 2011 "Case Of The Year".
Narcotics Search Warrant

The Narcotics Task Force requested K9 to assist during a traffic stop and search warrant. K9 Brutus was utilized and alerted on the vehicle and several areas inside the residence. Inside the residence K9 Brutus detected and indicated on a safe that was located in a bathroom. The Task Force advised they located 2½ pounds of marijuana worth $3500, 2 ounces of cocaine worth $2200, and $12,420 in cash inside the safe on which K9 Brutus alerted. The Task Force also advised they located marijuana residue, packaging materials, drug paraphernalia and firearms in other areas in which K9 Brutus alerted.
