K9 BALLISTIC VEST
NAME LIST
In order to place your K9 Team's name on the eligibility list for a donated K9 ballistic vest, K9 Teams MUST be current VPCA members in good standing. From time to time, Thin Blue Line Paracord Braclet.com and PT Armor donate a ballistic vest for a VPCA K9 Team.
The cost to outfit one K9 with a ballistic vest runs approximately $1500 per K9. Each vest is custom-fit to the K9, and the vests typically have an active service life of 5 years. Once a K9 retires or the vest expires, a new vest must be custom-fit again. Many agencies do not budget money to outfit their K9's with ballistic vests, as some see the costs as prohibitive. One of the goals of the VPCA is to outfit each member K9 Team with ballistic protection. Please contact Beth Healy if your company or organization would like to donate to our K9 Vest Fund. We would like to thank everyone for their support, as every little bit helps us to achieve this goal.
When a vest becomes available, a K9 Team will be randomly selected from the list of eligible Teams and notified that they were selected. When selected, Teams must visit PT Armor's store in Fairfax to have the K9 fitted for the vest, which then takes several weeks to custom manufacture. Handlers have a choice of different carrier colors for the vest.
In order to be eligible, each K9 Team must meet the following criteria:
- K9 Team must not currently have a ballistic vest,
- K9 Team must be certified in Patrol/Utility,
- K9 must be no older than 5-years old,
- K9 Handler must not be close to retirement.

Take Nutley Street exit south (toward Metro station).
Turn left on Lee Highway (Route 29).
Turn right on Prosperity Avenue, at the BMW dealership.

DIRECTIONS FROM I-95:
Take I-95 North toward Washington DC.
Take I-495 West (Inner Loop) toward Baltimore.
Take exit for Arlington Boulevard (Route 50) west.
Turn right on Prosperity Avenue.
PT Armor is on the left across from the Merrifield Post Office.
